Con la creciente subida mundial de los costes de producción de leche, los estrechos márgenes, los nuevos aranceles y los mercados globalizados, se abre cada vez mas la implantación de la microfiltración de leche, al igual que la FDA autorizó la ultrafiltración para hacer queso el año pasado.
La industria láctea ha estado utilizando la filtración tangencial desde la década de 1960, y transformó la industria láctea en la década de 1990 en adelante.

Ya es habitual microfiltrar la leche/suero para hacer queso, y ya con los resultados de estos años de experiencia, lo que antes se hacía en empresas de grandes volúmenes para optimizar costes, hoy en día ya son las medianas / pequeñas empresas las que comienzan a implantarlo en sus líneas de estandariz ación.
